I stand in the space of the artist
Trying to imagine his thoughts.
Stretching my mind to wonder
On each line he draws-
Layers of mirrored illusions
Dimensions of confusion
A grid among many shapes
Morphed into birds of flight
Interlocking black and white
An impossible reality I feel.
It's a cerebral experience
I can't explain adequately in words.
It lifts me into a higher plain
Within the hands of a genus.
M. C. Escher an extraordinaire.
