About This Poem
between sleep and consciousness
I swear I heard you when I woke
lying next to me, breathing deeply
I thought I felt your presence
as I floated in the fog
between sleep and consciousness
You moved closer and gently touched my back
Your fingers felt warm on my cold skin
Your breath on the back of my neck
sent shivers down to my toes
I turned over to meet you
My hand reached for you in the dark
but you had gone
