About This Poem
Dearest and Deepest Reflection
I should like to hold you
For a little while if I may;
For nothing more than comfort
On this dismal, dreary day.
Locked within these thoughts that spin
Like spider webs in my brain;
Wishing I might see you walking
Right out in the rain.
Step by step no doubt you’d let
My weariness fade fast;
Like blackness chased away from light
As when morning comes to pass.
I’d give up nearly everything
To see you eye to eye;
To touch your face as we retrace
Sweet memories, bye and bye.
And if I could say one simple prayer
Or wish upon a star;
I’d pray that you could find me too
Knowing immeasurably how far.
I’ve let myself go like winds that blow
With no destination or direction;
My life ring and only song that still sings
Is remembering you
Are my Dearest
And
Deepest
Reflection.
