This poem touched me.......I have had similar thoughts throughout my life, as to whether or not my presense in someone's life....had it lasted, or had more meaning, .....would have changed the course of history.......perhaps not....but we will never know. this does indeed haunt our dreams.

Oh, Judy, this broke my heart, because it brought back memories of myself at 13. I was assigned a locker at jr high school with a young black lady, and I liked her very much. We were just becoming friends, when my father wrote to the school board, and had me transferred to another locker. It was such a difficult time for both she and I. Congratulations on your win in my free verse contest. Hugs, Catie :)

Ah, so heart wrenching and I can identify...the 'what ifs' are endless...do you still live in NO?...If so I'm right across the lake from you (Ponchatoula) - Tim

How sad this situation is my friend! I hate to hear of things like this, you shouldn't dwell on the subject, it's just the way life is sometimes, friends do separate as new ones form! I've had friends in the past that have drifted away, I no longer know where they are or what they do, I know nothing about their life anymore, but I don't dwell on the idea of our separation! It just happened over time! You never know what could have happened if you remained friends, its unknown! Great Work!!
