About This Poem

Covering my Face

I cover my face For I have some shame But behind my hands I still am And the shame is still there My face burns Through my hands And the imprint Of my face Exists of the surface On my hands Showing my shame That I have acquired Shame of not loving enough You deserve so much more Than my shameful face That holds its form On the outside of my hands Can you see me By the form Of my shame That is shown Through my face On my hands That tried to cover My shameful face But failed Will you forgive me For my wrong For my lies For my falsehood For my shame That I carry on My face

My dear Russell, who wouldn't forgive such a fine and sincere person like you, after such a plea for forgiveness? A Torturously beautiful self-inflicted punishment wrapped in marvelously expressed poem!
