Nothing is New

The date has changed,
Calendars and desk pads are rearranged,
What else is especially new?
Birthdays, weddings, reminder notes?
Perhaps hope?

The month has changed,
Everything else remains the same,
What else is especially new?
The season, vacations, new schemes?
Perhaps dreams?

Our age has changed,
Problems that we overcame,
What else is especially new?
Our prayers for wars to cease?
Perhaps peace?

Nothing has changed,
Turmoil and hate remain,
Nothing is new...

Well at least perhaps every day that goes by we figure out one more thing that doesn't work...until we learn to be happy with having just what we need...a fine poem craig
