About This Poem
The Recluse
An extreme indulgence in sensuality,
you say it's not what you seek.
Your virtue guarded so stubbornly,
but you're attracted to the mystique.
Behind the shade of iniquitousness,
the path you long to travel.
Your desires you try to suppress,
as you fear society's gavel.
So you hide behind the mask,
your costume remains revealed.
Comforted by the world in which you bask,
your desires yet to be unsealed.
Reclusive in nature it's easy to see,
waiting for the man who will set you free.
