About This Poem

In Winter's Dusk

In winter’s dusk so hopeless and forlorn, I heard a new bird’s song; it gave me pause. Though earth and heaven both had seemed to mourn in winter’s dusk so hopeless and forlorn, a sanguine melody that night was born. I pondered but I could not guess the cause! In winter’s dusk so hopeless and forlorn I heard a new bird’s song; it gave me pause. For A New 8-12-line Poem - Any Subject Poetry Contest of Rick Parise

I wake up each morning to the birds singing and wonder how can you sing on such a cold winters day. They do raise my spirits for if they can sing I should rise up and sing too. Nicely done on this triolet.love phyl

Yes, that was the Kee bird. This bird sits on a frozen branch in dead of winter saying, "Kee, kee, keerist it's cold up here! This would win the Audubon award. (spelling) It has won my best comment. Love, daver

I really love this triolet...winter's dusk...sanguine melody...oh, that's good stuff, Andrea. You always please...and my day was peaceful yesterday. I spent most of it roaming around the river-bottoms looking for arrowheads.
