Flattery

Narcissistic supply, a shot of honeyed words
How long before the sweet into sour turns?
Now the provider, then the provoker
We’re all victims, all a perpetrator

Honesty and dignity defiled, nailed to a cross
Self-serving lies and pretense a dice do toss
Their grabbing hands reach for the rags of the dead
They fain innocence with blood on their head

Wish to buy love and pay with words of lies
This game can be played till innocence dies
Grief will then bury trust and sincerity
Tears and bitterness fill chests of prosperity

Foul are the earth, the air and the waters
Bringing forth deceitful sons and daughters
It is said the inner is reflected in the outer
When truth is silent false tongues speak louder
