It’s waking up realizing it wasn’t a dream
The open wound in my heart as real as the morning light
Body numb beaten by the truth the heart just wouldn’t see
Wondering how I’d face today and pretend to be me
Wanting to go back to sleep and speed up time
But it’s time to put on the face and face my crime
For loving someone that can never be mine
And I could tell myself a thousand lies
Build a wall miles high, read the facts
Know wrong from right but to hell with it all
I just can’t fight what my soul feels is right
And that’s right next to you.
