About This Poem
Embers
A fire is so like life and love,
A bright hectic yellow flame,
Licking and leaping--frenzied sparks fly
And the hurried crackling,
Like a waning applause--slowly dies,
But, still, it quietly glows,
And the embers throw a comforting warmth,
In those mellow years and mellow love,
Until, at last, goodbye...
