rooted
This is a day my God has made
constructed within His mighty hand.
He saw it good to have me placed
within the frame of time I stand.
Each season only good for me
wether the cold or heat prevail,
surely in time good fruit I'll bare
If i trust in Him without fail.
Sometimes moved by the slightest breeze,
I start to wonder how long
before these testing tempests cease
(but they do make my branches strong).
Sometimes I contaminate the soil
with thoughts that weary me
forgetting that these seeds I sow
will reap my life's testimony.
But oh, how great is He in grace
that roots me in His love,
not a foundation as secure
as the Cornerstone above
seated at the right hand of the Father
interceding without end
on my behalf before the throne
so that I live in Him again.
Even the world withers away
but I know God's Word ever same
says I was made to give Him glory
and fleshly ways I am to tame.
bring to submission and obedience
what once was filled with worldly pride
and for His purpose I endeavour
because He's kept me all this time.
