The Most Fascinating Person I Never Knew

As I close my eyes to think of you
Laughter, light, warmth, and comfort fills my soul.
Memories of sweet late night secrets
My paintings hanging royally on your wall.
Driving through the desert roads with the windows down
Your voice singing loud and strong making me laugh.
I always thought I knew you through in through
Though being so young it is obvious I didn't.
You were my uncle, best friend, and my hero
I had never imagined I would lose you.
Memories and stories are all I have left of you
And a few small things from your life.
No more phone calls
No more playing hooky and going to the zoo.
Youre gone from life and even six years after your death
I am continuing to realize I hardly knew you.
Notebooks filled with your handwriting
The words continuing to shock me.
But even now that I have grown I always say
Youre the most fascinating person I never knew.
