About This Poem

A Perfect Woman

A perfect Woman, nobly planned,
To warn, to comfort, and command;
And yet a Spirit still, and bright
With something of angelic light.

From obscure origin appears,
a tranquillity not surpassed,
with only virtue in arrears.
Instructed and morals to last –
admiration is thus fanned.
A perfect Woman, nobly planned.

Her arms are strong and she is fit,
her stamina unlimited,
not only work, but hearts to lift.
At her hearth you will be admitted,
a welcome fit for man of any brand –
To warn, to comfort, and command.

Her tears she may hide from the world,
cruel in its assessment of her,
leaving her golden heart in the cold.
Her true value measured in myrrh.
Her ready smile to set things right
and yet a Spirit still, and bright.

Love, only arrow in her bow
to teach us the lessons of life
and that we shall reap what we sow.
Testimony to the perfect wife.
She inspires all to a new height
with something of angelic light.

Shall I say majestic, okay, I shall, this poem says it all. In my life the list would be too long to reiterate-- Grandmother on down have been inspirational to me, and I'm a guys guy, in so many ways, the GALS rule, although I must say I don't have much patience for whiny "girly girls", a real woman is stronger than any guy. So true and well written Su.

Beautiful Suzette, has such a great message on being a woman and perhaps I like this better than Wordsworth, great as he is you did perfect justice to the subject. Love, Lizzie

Thank you for your kind words, Yas. I had to enter the shorter poem (last 2 stanzas) as the contest stated no more than 12 lines... pity. It is the next one, titled: The Perfect Woman (per contest rules)... ;-)
