The Impossible Dream
“I had a dream!” those faithful words of old
Once rocked the nation right to its dark core
Never had one had a dream so bold
So flagrant that no one could ignore
Nobody thought that the dream could come true
Mixing colors what an absurd belief!
Black and white equal? What a concept new!
For some if brought fear, for others relief
Many years later a rainbow is here
The world a canvas of brilliant shades
Becoming this way through trials and tears
And fervent prayer and God given aide.
How joyous life is when we put race aside
And pursue our dreams so in peace we’ll abide!
