About This Poem

Two haiku about the sea

Sailing ships go by
The wind sighs and follows close
A white handkerchief

*

Breakers, so gentle
Bands of sky blue, the wet dock
They are almost home

    Really like these two haiku, Jeremy! The first one is my favorite because I can easily visualize some lady waving them a hearty farewell with a handkerchief. I absolutely love it when haiku has the ability to make you think of things that were never even mentioned in the context. To be worded in such a way that a whole story is implied withing a single breath of reading.
