Onions

Has anyone ever written
about the scent of onions?
New Years Eve and the scent
comes wafting up to me
mingled in the wet and
warmth,
and all the little thoughts
that jump like fish, and slip
between
the sheets, what
seem to be good
ones, gone now - between
the yards of white that I
sleep beneath,
i also wonder,
about the undertow,
before we drift into the seas
- or sail away-
all about the answers that
we seek
