About This Poem
The Facade
You wear clothing that reveals
your cleavage,
but act disgusted when my
eyes undress.
With conversation, I try to
engage,
as you play your mental game
of chess.
You wear your makeup without
a flaw,
and act embarrassed when I
compliment.
You feint a move of withdraw,
as invitations from your eyes
are sent.
Everything about you screams
"look at me."
But it's all just a facade.
For you conduct yourself
fraudulently,
Your actions to me appear odd.
It all becomes clear as I leave
your place,
and vanish into the night,
without a trace.
