I Love You Like Never Before
She watched the long tailed swans crossing the bridge in the moonlight
Air and wind took turns taking her breath away on this cold blistery night
Her notion of solitude ends with footsteps and a voice cutting in silence
“What are you contemplating?” He asks with a kind and gentle askance
“I was wondering if swans ever get blue you know do they ever get sad.”
“Don’t know bout fuzzy animals but I know there’s blues to be had!”
He extends a hand to her, “Names Jim, I’m on my ways to the show”
Why don’t ya come along I’ll show you how we fellas kill the crow!”
A smile a tilt of her head and he knew she was more than listening to him
“Just call me Jane, please to meet you Sir, well be better get going, Jim
Dim lights tables up against a wall when the jazz band started to play
It was like they poured honey in her ears, they chased her blues away
It was Ali Harper and Nick Granville playing a duo called Song Bird
They drank tequila and listened to Ali crooning out the velvet world
And the song birds keep singing like this, I love you like never before
