Before Stone Cradles My Head

I am simple man that roamed through life
without a real plan....
Mistakes of my youth in yonder years I myself
Hoping and wishing to make myself anew I prayed
the lord for forgiveness for all the wrongs I'd do.....
There is a lot to be said before stone ever cradles
my head.....
still a lot of tears to be shed for the carrier of
light granted me life and I know to him all is due....
I have not always been kind but my heart thought it
could do what it knew was best......
I have not always been wise to that I myself can attest...
I have committed mortal sins the scars I've privately worn
and buried in my chest..
Sometimes I've felt worthless unloved and out of care but I've
always known you my lord have always been there.
I am not afraid to die just afraid to continue living a lie
aimlessly roaming without direction.
Guide me lord to the path I must follow
so that you find in me delight.
Show me whats right so that one day I can meet you
in paradise......
