True Cynicism

Often I humor at things I read
I am growing exceedingly cold
Maybe it's not at all in me but
Their words both young and old

In a search for any kind of reason
We go afar and many times astray
Can I be now so tediously cynical
Their ideas don’t even near gray

There motivation prolly attention
What inspires them in this quest
An endeavor for true originality
Funny, most assuredly I now jest

Who reflects on the truth inside
The only things I know are real
Why do I think I get to decide
What is writing, if not to reveal

Reading Tim Ryerson's comments brought back some great memories of my folk/country western days. Played banjo in a semi successful group way back when! Cheers, Jack

Yeah I know some old banjo players lol. You hardly even see a banjo these days. Well I don't really listen to country, but I remember reading that in your bio. I remember bluegrass and other older country that used a lot of banjo.

You nailed this baby Wayland...love your name too!...Similar to the late - great Waylon Jennings...one of the original Texas country outlaws...

Ah so you're familiar with Waylon. I've often been asked if my name was like Waylon at which I of course answered, it's similar, but is not spelled the same. I recently discovered that he was born Wayland Arnold Jennigs, strange indeed. I was forces to listen to country at times growing up in Texas, and actually enjoy some old country to the extent of the memories of a dear family member, but most importantly, thanks for the comment about my poem.

Yet, cynicism is well taken and vise-versa said in my world also. This write, too, I like...

Yes cynicism is often too well taken. The original meaning of the word was meant to be a good thing, well in many respects anyway. Thanks so much for your comment.
