About This Poem
Its Time To Go
Old man! Wake up, it’s time to go!
What? What is happening? Who are you?
I can’t just be going! Where are we going to?
Old man! I am Death! I have come to take your soul!
You must have known that I was coming as you grew old?
I cannot go along with you! I cannot go anywhere!
I am old and frail, confined to this here bed and that wheelchair!
Besides, there are many things, so many things I have not yet done
And furthermore there are also many things that I have left undone!
Old man! I am Death! Tonight your soul I take!
Your mortal life is over now; your legacy is left to the winds of fate!
Old man! I am Death! Tonight your soul I take!
Old man! We must be going, as for what has not been done; it is too late!
Old man! Leave your body!
There is no way! I am not ready!
Please God, let this not be so!
Old man! It’s time to go!
