The Woman Said She Didn't Do It

The woman said she didn't do it,
And there was certainly nothing
In her character or background
To suggest that she did.
But they pursued her anyway.

No pillar of society,
But she never hurt anyone.
Not affluent by any means,
But a hard worker.
But once those bureaucrats
Sank their fangs into her,
You could see the teeth marks.

And after ten long years of litigation,
After she had spent all of her money,
And her children were gone,
They said that they'd made a mistake.
They said she didn't do it.
They said she was innocent.

She told them that ten years ago.
And there was certainly nothing
In her character or background
To suggest that she did it.
