The Masquerade

She hides behind the golden mask
her inhibitions gone
While acting out her fantasy
enthralling every one

Emerald eyes and ruby lips
a flower in her hair
She dances all across the room
while all the young men stare

Passions chained and locked away
are loosed before our eyes
This masquerade a brief pretense
Oh how her spirit cries

One by one her suitors fail
she passes on them all
They’re not what she is longing for
she prays the mask wont fall
