I'll just sit here by my little fire
And the scenery admire
As I listen to the choir
Of the birds and their sweet song,
Whilst knowing freedom, joy and peace
Will bring in the Army and Police
Because contentment for the free man must be wrong.
So come and charge up all your Tasers,
Get your savage dogs to chase us
Through the scrub, the tracks, the gullies, over logs,
Forget that we were all once human,
Hunt us down like feral vermin,
Hunt us down like we're a pack of mongrel dogs.
Come on Mr Fireman,
Come on Mr Ambulance,
Put your noisy sirens on,
Don't give us half a chance,
Come on Mr Witch hunter,
Chase us far and wide,
Chase us 'til we all fall dead
You'll then have something for the newspapers,
You'll have something on the News,
You can publicly opinionate
Your opinionated views.
Why can you not just leave us?
Why must you live to grieve us?
What is it that we've done
That's so darn wrong?
Just let me sit here by my little fire,
Let me listen to the choir of the bush I so admire,
I promise I will do nobody wrong.
You all know I'm only mortal
And soon my short life’s' portal
Will be closed
And in a short while I'll be gone.
