The Invitation

THE INVITATION
I had an invitation to a party
The fairy queen invited me
It was her party, lucky me
I shuddered to be near her skin
As silvery as the moon
And oh her dress
It was as shimmery as the sun

The baby fairies, fragile
Danced about
With their tulip dresses
And rose petal hats
Blue candles danced in the air
Swaying to and fro
In the clear night

I was happy quite
Then the fragile babies
Wanted a dance
I couldn’t say no
We danced and danced

Then the queen took over
And danced me to the cliff
We stood there dancing
The whole kingdom danced towards us
There was no more room
I feared we’ll fall
But they didn’t care
They knew that and they wanted that

Their queen was dying
She needed a companion to the other world
She chose me
I was in a trance
I had no choice now
I had to go
They danced towards us two
The queen and I
And down we went
Queen and I
Making history for the generations.
