Missing Pieces

Once there was a time.
A long time ago.

As I was looking for a flat.
Making sure it was right for me.

Just so I could make it my own.
I took a walk through all the cracks
and cervices.

Way over there, in an out of the way corner .
That's when I seen it, the writing on the wall.

The closer I came, the more I saw a love spell.
Although It was wearing thin from years past.

 This is how it read:

She ask, if she could get back all the missing
pieces ~ all the pieces she had given away ,
To lovers that didn't stay.

All the parts that had been broken, and betrayed.
All the parts that were left out in the rain.

All the parts that were dropped and kicked around.
It said, she didn't think they wanted them anyway.

All the parts of herself , she felt she lost along the way.
She ask for all the missing pieces to be returned to her.

If that was ok ~ Just so she wouldn't fade away.

Was looking through a 3 ring binder of my old poetry, I found this one . No doubt we all have pages of poems.

The older we get the less we recognize ourselves. Could it be we are only an empty shell of our former selves ? Things that make you go hummmmm! I can identify with this poem. Write on my poet friend. Tlee

Debbie, you should start posting those old ones from the binder. How many other binders have you made since then? I didn't really start writing a lot until 12 years ago.

I love to find hidden or lost messages: marginalia in old books, notations in family bibles, discarded letters found in the dumpster, even rude messages scratched into bathroom stall walls. You've done a wonderful job of describing your discovery. Jack

Not shure what use they would be to her :) I sure wouldn't want it, don't give anything if you can't afford to loose it. love Elizabeth

he sadness of broken dreams, the might have beens, and the sometimes, gladness, a life lived in between, goodness n badness.. it would seem... can up n downs bring madness, when too much hurt has been? Don re: Debbie Duncan "Missing Pieces"

Debbie - Your word choices and sensitive ideas are sad. Our souls don't fade away.

Debbie, How we view the past can be changed by what happens in the present and future, however. This is a magical poem-I like it a lot. It's something I believe in even though I am a rationalist. There is something special about feelings, and you nailed it!
