About This Poem

Forget It

I don't know if I should go there,
If it's worth it to forget.
I've tried to keep all of my memories
That I haven't lost as yet.

But my ninety-year old sister says
When we talk of our childhood,
That I am a Pollyanna.
I am recalling only good.

It's the privilege of the young folks
To forget. There is no cost.
When an oldster such as I am,
Starts fogetting, she is lost.

Yes, I guess if there is something
That I would like to forget,
I already have forgotten,
For I don't remember it.
