Snowy Love

a modest snowball spirals through the air-- burst of laughter
As soon as I see his expression, I know I'm in trouble. I usually have terrible aim, so my success is a result of pure luck. I watch his body stiffen in surprise before he wipes the snow from his shoulder and turns toward me. He tries to keep a straight face - to be intimidating - but of course his lips twitch until they stretch into his trademark grin. Shaking his head, his sparkling eyes say, You're in for it now. Swallowing another laugh, I turn to flee, but he's faster. Before I know it, his arms have encircled my waist and I'm being tackled to the ground.
a heavy snowfall softens the frozen ground-- two breaths mingle

Heather, no time for comments. I have school stuff to do here all night but wanted to tell you thanks for my place in your contest with the poem about Dale, my brother. Really appreciate it because that poem got nowhere with another judge a long time ago. And by the way, I see congrats are due on THIS great write of yours which I loved the first time I saw it. A belated congrats on this one.

My sweet Heather..what I am telling you will not harm your rank BUT I know you love to grow SO might I suggest bring the WHOLE write into the present tense? It will make it even more immediate and involving for the reader and mesh better with the haiku concept. Light & Love

Done! You're right. I'm just so used to writing in the past tense that present sometimes feels awkward. Your constructive criticism is always welcome! Thank you :)

Very touching excellent poem written by a very good poet. I saw that you view another poet named Margherita Russo she's only 14 and I know it would mean alot for her to have you read her newest poem if you have the time. Thank you very much.

This was a fun poem to read. You have got an awesome touch. Thankfully, I have a little better than average aim and speed. Yesterday though, I got attacked by four girls with snowballs. That ain't fair!

Haha! No, those odds don't sound very fair. Snowball fights must be a lot more fun when you have good aim. Sadly, I'm always the one getting pelted with snow - or being thrown in a snowbank!

Capering to frolics in virgin white snow, to me enforces the bond of love, whilst snowballing hearts sure grow. Oh my! a scene I would so love to be in. Simply romantic, I love it Heather. Good luck in Debbie's contest :)

There we go :) Thank you so much for your guidance! Haiku sure can be tricky if you don't know all the rules.
