Is This Chair Taken

She stole a chair
And rushed away;
‘It’s taken now,’
I heard her say.

*over here, people often ask, 'Is this chair taken?', which means, 'Is this seat vacant?'

    Thanks for the clarification, Jack... over 'there' the expression means just the opposite...!!! Anyway, I was trying to read between the (for me misunderstood) lines to come to the actual meaning! Well that's cleared up... Terry (glad I was able to provide a friend with a few laughs... )

    Nice poem here, Jack... Hmmm I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to read between the lines now... in any case, good luck in the contest! Terry
