About This Poem

So Swift the Days Will Pass

Up on the hill I found my joy
on grass of green and gold
I would roll down when a young boy
for I was fast and bold.

Oh how we'd play from dawn to dusk
in torn pants and bare feet
The day a thrill when winds were brusque
yes we were colts so fleet.

We ate the small fruits in the grass
sweet ones red and blue
Oh yes the joys found as time passed
were there for most of you.

Up on those hills who was to know
that time would fly so fast.
That life would bind our bare foot soul
and days so swift would pass.

Hi Debbie - This is sensational. I love the form, the philosophy, the rhythm. "bind our barefoot souls" are words from heaven. I wonder about the lines "Oh yes the joys found as time passed were there for most of you." So melancholic. love you, Kathy p.s. - thanks for the offers of help; I think to offer help today is where I am.

This was a lovely poem to share, Debbie - We had thick fog all the new days in 2013, gray and heavy days. - sleepy and headaches ..... oxox / / Anne-Lise :)

  1. Date: 1/9/2013 5:18:00 AM

Yes,we have to make the most of them and enjoy as we go. Love it, Debbie :)

Nice rhythm! I like the subject too. Torn pants sounds awful familiar from my younger days, particularly when I crossed barb wire fences.
