PART OF THE PACK

I joined the Human Race
I joined the pack
No longer, defending odd ones
No longer, preventing attacks
Survival, has molded a sculpture of stone
Faceless, unformed, yet uniform
Yesterday, a strange one joined our group
Ostracized, picked on, well chiseled form
From afar
I studied this artwork
I saw some good points
I saw some bad points
Typical human, but not part of our pack
In her absence, we tore her apart
A prey for hungry wolves cornered and trapped
And I, defender of the human race,
Walked away with a morsel from the kill
In my haste, I tasted blood
An accessory to gossip, we all shared in part
More like murder, when I noticed
In my mouth, I carried her heart.

Adrianna, so many condone violence, and other negativity by silence. We forget that what we do to others, we do to ourselves in one way or another as we are all "One". Thanks for sharing your well-written poem. Happy New Year! Love, Annalise
