Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse

Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse
are painted on walls of green.
A maple crib stands in the corner.
It's a picture perfect scene.

There is only one thing missing
in this room so perfectly designed.
The baby was never to take a breath.
You have to wonder what God had in mind.

Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse
live behind an ever closed door.
To look at the would-be parents
you couldn't tell who was grieving more.

Not all plans have happy endings;
some endings never seem to end.
How much sadness can two people take
before they break instead of bend.

Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse
are painted on walls of green
in a room now shrouded in sadness
where no child will ever be seen.

Very sad poem Francine, it is hard to wonder why stuff like this happens in life, and the effects it has on everyone involved. Grats on being featured this week, I did enjoy your emotional poem.

The death of a baby is a terrible thing for any family. You have described everything very well as usual, Francine.

This is awesomely written , I do know how you feel. If in fact this was you. I had two in a row. about 8 months apart, tears in my eyes now, just thinking about it, I wanted to die. This kind of tears my heart out Francine. The ache must be so hard to bear especially when so many are on the way and someone ends it. To have everything in place and not have the reason is more than sad. Love, Elizabeth

Francine - So moving is this piece I cry for all I know who feel that pain. Your poem reaches a place deep within that leaves Mickey and Winnie waiting forever. This brings me back to a poem I posted called to Bruno Sits about my daughter. We were fortunate to have had her for 21 years. love, Kathy

Oh, Francine...heartbreaking. Your poem is powerful and honest. I tried so hard to let go of my miscarriage when I was pregnant the second time, but I was scared. I didn't touch the nursery until close to my due date, and even then I was still scared as because of my advanced age I had a higher chance of stillbirth. My heart goes out to parents who suffer this immeasurable loss. There is not enough support in our communities for parents who have faced this... your poem speaks volumes. xox Cyndi

I wish this wasn't based on true events, unfortunately......

This puts a tear in my eye, Francine. It is a sad fact of life, that some people get so close to realizing their dream, painting Winnie and Mickey, and then suffering a hearbreaking loss. The painted room serving as a daily reminder of what did not come their way. Nicely done - now, pass the tissue.
