Punctuation
I remember when we were are at school
Some thought the English teacher a fool
For every summer holiday
This is what he had to say
I need an essay seven pages long
On your summer holidays done right not wrong
As for me the challenge was great
In seven weeks what could I create?
I wrote a diary everyday
Of what I did whilst out at play
In London Scarborough and in Leeds
At this essay I would succeed
I wrote about the sports I played
Football, rounder’s, and cricket all my talents displayed
Riding bikes round Wrekin view
Just everything I had to do
To compress it into seven pages
Would simply have just taken ages
So I settled for eleven
My holidays sounding just like heaven
So I took it into school
Handed it in I felt so cool
Five pages was all some had done
But mine was the largest one
I had to wait a week for the result
It came as quite a great insult
Yeates come here the teacher said
I walked to him in fear and dread
Do you not like me he asked askance?
As the papers hit me and made me do a funny dance
Why I said of course sir I do
What makes you think I don’t like you?
You tried to kill me with that essay
Could not get a breath no punctuation I say
Go home and put it right tonight
I thought that was a dreadful plight
So my mum sat down with me
Taught me to punctuate did she
I took it back the very next day
Was told to leave it and go away
At the next English lesson I did attend
The teacher from the front did send
My holiday essay back to me
An A+ on the page for all to see
I never got an A+ again
For punctuation is a Bain
In my life I have no care
I leave out punctuation everywhere
