About This Poem

Retirement

The retirement age for SSB
Is fast approaching seventy
And age past which - we should retire
Leaving little time - 'til we expire

We'll take pills to medicate
Which will keep us somewhat healthy
And are over priced - as merchandise
But make others - very wealthy

Our fixed incomes won't keep up
With run away inflation
So we'll sit at home - we'll eat like birds
And live in caged - anticipation

We're all being pushed over the 'cliff', or should I say, we're following the rest of the sheep to the bottom of the pit... Terry

Good write, Jon. You always have such an interesting way to view things, though this sounds very...depressing! :( I know...life! I wish you long life and health in this New Year, my friend.

Good write, Jon. People can't just live on just SS nowadays. That is why we see many seniors are still working. Hopefully, they have family members that can look out for them. Enjoyed. Have great New Year's Eve! Don't party too hard :)

Yep, that's why I'm still working. Well, I could probably retire now if I were willing to do without health insurance, medicine, a roof over my head, the comfort of warm cloths, food. But I owe, I owe so it's off to work I go.
