The Lottery

Sell me any lotto number
Life is but an empty dream
If it's a winner while I slumber
Wake me up so I can scream

Life is real! Life is painful!
And though the grave will free my soul
I will hope my ticket's gainful
And playing I will reach my goal

Playing is an anxious sorrow
Edging closer to the ditch
But I'll buy some more tomorrow
In hopes that I'll be filthy rich

I've not yet won - and time is fleeting
My heart aches and I'm quite poor
But if my heart continues beating
There is hope - I'll buy some more

Parody of "A Psalm of Life" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

hey, I don't thnk I know the Psalm of Life poem, but I sure like your parody version here!! We don't have lotto in Utah. One of the few states that doesn't allow it. Maybe I would be like you and playing it too!! Best of luck with it in 2013. Wouldn't it be dang awesome to be rich???

Thank you Andrea. I'd like to be rich. But if it were a choice of being rich or healthy. I'd choose health.

Now you can join all the bearded men on the Soup, lol. You may create a fraternity or something, ha ha. Enjoy your write, Jon. I don't think I will ever win a lottery. I don't think God wants me to get rich that way :) So good luck to you. Let me give you some number -12. It means one to something. It's also my birth date!

My new avatar is up to date now. No beard, no mustache, no hair on the top of my head. And 30 years older. Wow, I aged fast. I don't have much time left to win the big money.

Thank you ilene. But my new avatar is very old. It is the only one I had on my computer. When a tech came over to set up my new hardware he help me format the one picture I had on my computer to load on the soup. I have a current pic on a CD somewhere that I was going to use not sure where it is. I'm about 30 yrs older now with no beard, no mustache, and very little hair on top. You'll be in for a shock when I can finally post it. Maybe I should put my mask back on.
