About This Poem
Charon
Come pay the ferryman,
At death's final stand.
Charon's palm open wide,
Solicited payment to other side.
A swim on river Styx too vast,
So frigid, a soul wouldn't last.
Do not cheat yourself out of a ride,
There is no other-way to the other-side.
Fresh souls pay the ferryman,
Holding out his skeletal hand.
Remove coined toll from eyebrow,
Disquieted brave the ride somehow.
The impoverished wonder ever-more,
Supplicated at Hades shore.
