About This Poem

Written Words

.

                 We should ask ourselves
                 if the man
                 had created God
                 in his own image
or if He's just a victim
                 of bad interpretation
or just a sketch of a bigger truth ...unseen

Because when the Word of God
                 was written
                 the sun
                 the same sun
                 revolved around our planet
                 and God could stop it
                 It's written

I still read the written Words
                 trying to find harmony
                 I don't need
                 to see
                 to believe
                 My eyes,
                 my mind,
                 and the failure to concede
                 Ideal creations quasi-consistent
                 with reality
                 through the perception of fears
                 or magic
                 or subjugation

                 It's a giant brain, like a Coliseum
                 where the lions eats Cousteaus
                 and Sagans
where the jelly and the star
                 fishes
                 keep swimming
after two thousand years in Aquarius

Because when the Word of God
                 was written
only God had the capacity to fly
only God had the capacity to end
                 the world
                 Time and change
                 We need an update

                 We ought to reconcile all
                 our doubts
                 without omitting
                 our beliefs
                 if we can
                 if we dare

                 The wind
                 still blows
                 the sands of Hammurabi
Will we be able to open our own eyes?

                 No, doubts are not different
                 from beliefs
Yet, although I can't see them
I believe in all my doubts
                 blindly

Homework: There is a particularity shared by the jelly fish and the star fish. : )

HEAVY and insightful stuff here Ruben...I completely agree that we arrogantly created God in OUR image instead of the opposite and also think it is foolish and arrogant to believe in the 'right' to eternal life...that ain't up to me!... I'm also not very comfortable with the idea of eternity either (sounds rather boring) although I realize that my feeble mortal mind does not have the ability to comprehend such things..Okay! Enough with the rambling already! - Tim

I must also admit that I don't put much stock in the Old Testament (other than Genesis, the Book of Job and King Soloman's writings) Slaughtering women and children in the name of God?...Yikes!...I believe in the New Testement and especially the Book of Revelation...John simply described what he he was familiar with...

I like your style, Ruben! Enjoyed this challenging conception. The student in me wants to say that neither the jelly nor the star are fishes, yet they are sea creatures. RAY

Looking for harmony in that area is hopeless. But in thejelly fish and star fish you have already found it.. real law doesn't need to be writen. Laws are for kings justice comes from God..

I'm back at you saying the same thing to you that you just said to me....I haven't checked out your poetry in much too long, and see what I've been missing???! It is my pleasure to read such wise and introspective poetry...the key words being doubts and beliefs being the same....YES ! Love this insightful poem! And thank you for your kind compliment...I have always always trusted and think highly of your opinion...so your words made my day! Thank you!

I've never heard of this form...hmmm will have to check it out. Faith in what we see and what we don't... I have my doubts as well but chastise myself for them... ps: To me the image was the soul...not the exterior human form. Enjoyed this multi-complex poem. I'm sure I have only scratched the surface or possibly I am completly way off !! lol
