About This Poem

Archangel

O me but a mortal bespelled,
In a solitary purgatory dwelled.
Probing an ardent lover’s kiss.

Mine battered heart found,
Mine soul unobtainable bound.
Love's frivolity held no bliss.

Thy satin ties unencumbered bind,
So effortlessly wilt unwind.
Rescued from heaven's disgrace.

Love flows softly to enfold,
Enabling ardor to take hold.
Bequeathing a radiant embrace.

Archangel slayer of foolish pride,
Found the tenderness concealed inside.
Thou cradles mine heart's insecurity,

So ardent admirer I solemnly bid thee,
Hold fast mine bruised heart gently,
Thou hast restored its purity.
