About This Poem
River
Angry words left unspoken,
Glass heart left broken.
It’s so easy to say cutting things,
Not concerned with the hurt it brings.
And after everything said and done,
I’m always the sorry one.
Chorus:
It’s getting harder each time tears fall,
To forgive and forget all.
The river's flooding with the tide,
Running off with the love inside.
The tender touch is suppose to make me forgive,
While joking how I’m just too sensitive.
You wonder why I pull away,
And why I take so serious words you say.
Well, words hurt deeper then physical pain,
Words can burn holes into a brain.
Chorus:
It’s getting harder each time tears fall,
To forgive and forget all.
The river's flooding with the tide,
Running off with the love inside.
My tears like the river's rise,
Love is drowning in the sorrow of my eyes.
it's being washed away,
By all the hurtful things you say.
And when my tears dry,
That is when I say good-bye.
