About This Poem
His Last Dying Wish
For forty long years he came here to fish
On this third of September his last dying wish
To be remembered for being a good father and man
Reflecting as he pulls the bait from his can
He sets down his pole and draws from his pipe
Tears blend with the pond , Mother Nature will wipe
For there’s no greater medicine than this magical spot
Tranquil and whole where his first love begot
Blending hues of his children and his recently deceased wife
The pond’s rippling motion mimics his well lived life
Behold this watercolor painting of a God-centered man
A masterful moment as his hour glass runs out of sand
Written 12-4-12
For Seren Robert’s Contest “Fisherman” based on the painting in Mandy’s blog
