Alive

Have you ever noticed how a paint brush dries out
After two minutes of just sitting there?
Kind of like how you have been drawing for 10
years and all of a sudden you forget how to
You lost all your techniques
And you move on and find something better
like the lyrics you used to write in school
Thinking one day you'll sing them to the world
And when you finally get a band together
Someone got grounded and everything falls apart
like that time when you did drugs
Thinking it would solve your problems
But it just made them worse
Like a friend
Telling you how to live your life
And tell you what you should and should not do
Its like the first time you felt alive
Holding her hand and being close to her
Then she goes away
And you are forced start all over again
without her

I like the thoughts expressed in this poem. The imagery of the dried paint brush captures well what it means to put your life on suspense once that which kept you alive is no longer present. The memories are there but the vitality is gone. Well penned Kurt!
