About This Poem

Foolish Pride

Custodian of conceit revered inside,
This mulishness called foolish pride.
Obstinately stubborn as the day is long,
Never conceding you may be wrong.

Driving away the ones you love most,
Cause pigheadedness is a trait to boast.
As long as you tenaciously endure,
Your considerable pride remains secure.

After all you can stand on your own,
But when all is settled you'll be alone.
So go ahead enjoy your self-respect,
Stubbornness hasn't killed you yet.

This is exactly what you adamantly demand,
All others will just have to understand.
But remember you made your own bed,
A solitary consolation to lay your hard-head.
