Jails parody

Send the convicts to the jails -
Local jails! -
What a world of confinement as their court case fails
Hear the jingle, jingle, jingle
Of the handcuffs as they walk
Now with men they only mingle
They may as well be single
Doing time, time, time,
For a thoughtless bungled crime
As their ratting, pigeon, stoolie partners send them with their tales
To the jails, jails, jails, jails,
Jails, jails, jails -
To the friendly and the cleanly local jails

Send the felons to the jails -
Fed'ral jails!
What a world of isolation as the judge prevails!
Hear the hammer, hammer, hammer,
In the dead and dark of night
As they're locked into the slammer!
All the other inmates clamor
To the jailers delight
Doing time, time, time,
For a botched "ruinic" crime
Which not admitted but committed and their last appeal fails
While in jails, jails, jails, jails,
jails, jails, jails -
While in insufficient and deficient jails

Thank you Andrea. I'm so glad you enjoyed my parody of "Bells" by Poe.

Poe would be envious. I would like to send some felons to jail. They broke into my house last week and stole money and all of my paltry jewelry. All the neighbors are being burglarized too. I can't wait to see them caught. Great writing. Love, Joyce

I'm glad you enjoyed my poem. But I'm grieved to hear about your plight. Before I moved to where I am now my home had been broken into several times. What a horrible feeling of violation it is when someone invades your home.

though you can't take credit for the brilliant rhythm of this poem (well, you can try!) you should feel very proud of how brilliantly you've crafted this parody. i love every choice you've made here!

You know how I love to parody. And I'm so glad you enjoyed my parody of Poe's "The Bells" I posted two other parodies of this Edgar Allen Poe poem. They are "Surgeon's Gloves" and "Dentist Gloves" I love to write parodies.

Yup the USA has more folks in jail that any country in the world..land of the free ..home of the brave? Light & Love [schools would be a better place for them if they can graduate college in there and haven't done a violent crime the world would be better served!]

Thank you Carma. Your avatar reminds me of a very dear friend of mine (I'll say a niece though not related by blood or marriage). Her name is marian. She is an artist.

Wow, Jon. Great piece. Your play with words is fantastic. Deep poem. I loved the flow. There are many types of jails....and sometimes we find ourselves imprisoned in jails of our own making. Thanks for sharing, my friend.

Thank you, I can't take credit for the meter and flow. Poe would be happy that you enjoyed the flow. I just parodied his poem. "The Bells"
