sorrow you swallow

it burns the heart,
as you drink it down,
cold and sour,
a sickly brown,

and no spoon of sugar,
will make this okay,
just a taste of my own,
as you turn away,

my sorrow is usless,
but i hold it to heart,
if i let it go,
my dreams drift apart.
