About This Poem
Oil lamps and candles
Oil lamps and candles
Used to guide men through the night
Shelved by electric light bulbs
And now a novel form of light
Unique hand crafted metal works
Were the smith's and owners pride
Until electric power tools
Swept that trade aside
Brute force had been the mainstay
Of ships in locomotion
Until fuels replaced that form
To power ships across the ocean
We're now in the atomic age,
Approaching the midnight hour,
Trying to harness for good and bad
Its radioactive power
