a lover's heart
scars the aged beech --

Wow Debbie! Great observation and thoughts here! I read this as an endearment and how overtime love can becomes less words and talking, and older couples start relishing in those moments of silence... just BEING in each others presence... what more could you want? Btw I've responded to all your wonderful and thoughtful comments on my haiku... I appreciate your constructive criticism and your keen eye for an effective poem.

yes...love only concerned with self...and its own life..scaring the life of the tree..decades later one wonders if the lovers still are one or if their love like the cut in the tree has scabbed over

ooooooooooooooooooh. ME LIKE! Now, oh Obiwan, please tell me, I see this as objective, even though it has rich metaphor and depth. Am I right? This IS objective, isn't it?
