Tokyo in flames, through charred streets I attempt to out-run my shadow

*haiku that might be breaking conventional rules

this puts me in mind of Hiroshima. I heard some awful stories about shadows when the atom bomb hit them. As charma says, "chilling" and very good this one!

I must say I'm enjoying reading these alternative haikus of yours, chris, and this one is impressive! free style haiku is very much in my own mind at the moment; it's good to push back boundaries...

I think this is one of the best haiku I have read in a long time...well done for creating (in my mind) an endless haiku loop: one image leading to the next...even if you are bending the rules...I like haiku that still has soul-impact like this.
