A Most Unfortunate Raven

She fled to the river
Where sunlight bathed
And pleaded to the water
For her heart to be saved

He followed her fallen raven plumes
Along where the withering roses
bloomed
But to all the beauty he always
proved
Far less passionate and never true

All too much like a dream
He appeared handsome and kind
A fluttering heart and rose-red
cheeks
She tried her best to hide

"You're everything, my dear"
He sang in a splendid voice
"Why do You run from me"

"If a heart I had to give you, my
lord"
Her lips began quivering
"Still I would run from you"

Injured deep, and all hope lost
The beast inside was not so tamed
And the clear blue stream could not
stop
His relentless cruelty, nor her tears
of pain

Beauty's crimson stained the aqua
flow
Blood proven thicker than Poseidon's
element
And the pale form of perfection was
left to float
In the eternity of death's
encampment
