About This Poem
This Year
An interesting year it has been....
moving back to India after two decades
Now, living in the most happening place in Mumbai
Rock concerts, musical shows, tinsel town dramatics
The histrionics, capricious paparazzi, advertising, media hub
Thankfully, I remain unfazed..
Living in an apartment in a skyscrapper
Seeing the glorious sun rising
Saying goodbye to the day as the sun sets
Welcoming the smiling moon
Honestly, I can say, most of the time
My head is in the clouds...
The night sky mostly clear..the stars seem so close
twinkling, blinking, inviting...
At dawn, as I open my window to
Let in the early morning light
The fog sways in gently..the dew
Sparkles on the flowers in my balcony garden.
And most of all, I am proud that
I have overcome my fear of driving in
The chaotic mumbai traffic, where drivers
Couldn't care less about signals and driving etiquettes
Horns keep blasting away continuously
Its manipulation of the worst kind...disastrous, fatal sometimes
And I have learnt, am learning nicely without gritting my teeth
There have been no skirmishes or accidents so far
Touchwood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd like to wind up by saying
Yes, I think I have written some good poetry this year
What say you, folks????????
